Camera Pro gets on device image auto orientation

The observant of you out there may have noticed that Camera Pro has recently received an update on the OVI Store, reaching v2.2. The good news is that you will note that a new setting has appeared in the image below:

Yes. Camera Pro has gain on device physical captured image auto orientation referred to as “Rotate Images”.

I am unsure why this has an On/Off options as I would assume that most would want this on and cannot think of a reason for wanting it turned off if available.

The reason I referred to this as on device physical captured image auto orientation is that Camera Pro has saved the image orientation into the EXIF data for a while now, but this is not how Nokia devices detect captured image orientation meaning that images would be incorrectly orientated when viewed back on device. The EXIF data was used, however, in applications like Photoshop.

All I can say is thanks for this long awaited addition to Camera Pro and much appreciated. This is a an improvement that I have been asking for for a long time now and makes the only 3rd Party Symbian default camera alternative (see image below).

With a price tag of only £3, Camera Pro remains one of my lust have applications, even with the recent default Nokia N8 camera update from Nokia Beta Labs.
