Battery Power Saving: Extend your Symbian battery life

When I was looking through the new releases on the OVI Store this morning I noticed a nice little free by the name of Battery Power Saving which as the name implies helps to extend your battery life by auto enabling the Symbian^3/Anna/Belle power saving mode based on battery level.

The point at which the power saving mode is is enabled is selected by the user based on the number of battery bars displayed on the phone screen.

In addition to enabling the power saving mode the profile can be changed, thus enabling the user to change the theme to a lower power option and switch Bluetooth off.

Once the user gets the chance to start charging the battery back up the app can be set to automatically disable power saving and change the profile back.scr000237

My only issue is that the nag screen requests that you purchase Emergency SMS Alert to help support the developer every time you hide the app rather than being a first use nag. At least this is mitigated a little bay the fact that you should only really need to set the app up once and then set it to auto-start and hide it from the task manager screen. If you do this you will only have to see it once I suppose.

Now the price you’ll pay for Battery Power Saving is simple. Nothing . . . Nada . . . It’s FREE. If Nokia’s Situations app had an auto profile switch on battery power/charging then Battery Power Saving would be somewhat surplice to requirements, but as it does not this is an excellent little helper app. Another must have.
